I have been on at least 15 cruises on different cruise lines. The
experience I gained from each cruise helped me prepare for the
next. Reading Tim Serey’s ‘Cruise Advice 101′ made me realize
that reading it first would have made it much easier to choose
which cruise to take, how to prepare, what to expect, etc.
rather than experiencing cruising on my own. Of particular
benefit were the ‘Cruise Doctor Insights’ which provide hints
that are beneficial to first time or experienced cruisers.
Highly recommended for all cruise enthusiasts. – RS -

Cruise Advice 101 by “The Cruise Doctor” is an informative and well written book. It gave me information that I was not aware of and wish I had known prior to my first cruise. It will tell you what you need to know to book the right cruise for you, what to take with you, how to deal with “sticky” issues such as tipping or getting a dining change, what to pack, as well as health and safety issues. I can’t wait to book another cruise and will take Cruise Advice 101 with me.

I bought this book after reading the reviews, and was surprised to see it for sale in our ship’s gift store. It is a frank discussion and specifics about what to do and not do as tips that people who take cruises need to hear. If you want a book that provides in-depth advice about the minute details of which cruise line or ship to take, see your travel agent. On the other hand, if you want a book that will save you money, and learn the behind the scenes realities of making a smart cruise purchase decision – it is “priceless.” At least, that was the strong consensus of the 10 people who discussed it at our cruise table dinner.

This book relates cruise info and advice — things that travel agents usually do not tell you. In my opinion, it is especially important to read if you book cruises over the internet. Well worth the $$$$.

Am I missing something? I bought this book b/c people rated it very highly. As far as I can tell, he spends 100 (very large print) pages telling you to get a good cruise agent.
Here, you go, I am summing up this (small) book: Get a good agent and make him/her work!
Save your $$ on this one, there are may other good, thorough books out there on the lines, the ships and how to choose/book.
