Tips For Choosing The Best European Cruise

Tips For Choosing The Best European Cruise

When I use the phrase “Best European Cruise” I am not referring to the very best vacation money can buy, but rather the greatest amount of luxury and adventure to be found without slipping the restraints of your budget. As much as we’d like to be able to ignore our accountants and max out our credit cards it is an unrealistic dream, particularly in these difficult financial times. That being said, there is nothing stopping you from finding the best European cruise deal you can with the money you have available to you. Here are a few tips to going about that:

1 – Determine which ports of call you would like to visit. Though the bulk of your time will be spent aboard the ship the highlights of your trip will be the time you spend visiting Europe’s amazing historic cities. If you’ve always wanted to see Rome, or Athens, or Barcelona then you need to plan your itinerary around one or many such destinations. Visiting the Sistine Chapel or St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome might bring you more joy than the rest of your journey combined, so you really need to focus in one this one aspect of your cruise planning more than any other. Don’t just concentrate on the cities in the Mediterranean basin. You can also enjoy wonderful cruises in the Baltic, Black or Caspian Seas. European river cruises are also immensely popular and are a fabulous way to explore inland Europe.

2 – Decide how long you want to be at sea. A European cruise can vary widely in length from a quick 5 day trip to a voyages that last nearly a month. Obviously the longer the cruise the more money you can expect to pay. This is an important consideration in planning your trip. You don’t want to come halfway around the world just to turn around and head home a day after finally getting over your jet lag. On the other hand you don’t want to have to sell all your worldly possessions in order to finance your vacation. Find a compromise that will make the long journey worthwhile without leaving you in the poor house. If no such compromise exists then you might want to consider holding off and taking the trip at a later date.

3 – Figure out what luxuries and amenities you want aboard ship. As I mentioned above the highlight of your trip will be the amazing cities you’ll visit, but don’t forget that much of your time will still be spent aboard ship. You want there to be enough to see and do to keep you from growing bored on your cruise. Find out what kind of entertainment each cruise line offers, what other amenities such as pools, hot tubs, fitness facilities, climbing walls etc. can be enjoyed, and what the dining experience will be like. Depending on the level of luxury the price can fluctuate significantly. Ultimately choosing the best European cruise is in your hands. By following these simple steps you should be able to plan a cruise vacation that you will remember for a lifetime without putting undue financial stress upon yourself and your family.

Go Cruising!

Go Cruising!

There is definitely something about watching the mainland disappear from view that melts away one’s stresses.

Follow our cruise planning tips and you’ll soon be watching the mainland disappear from sight along with all your stress. Read on and set sail for new horizons.

Tips for planning your Cruise:

Save time by consulting the experts

With the expanding market and increased competition, cruise companies are consistently offering discounted rates and special deals you can enjoy maximum pleasure for minimum offer especially if you plan and book ahead. Things can get a little confusing, that’s why it’s best to get the advice of an expert – your Flight Shop travel consultant can save you a lot of time in research by offering the right cruise to suit your needs. Some of the tricky areas we can assist in include: early booking or group discounts, last minute specials, choosing the right cabin, options for children and much more.

The journey or the destination?

With so many options for cruising these days, it’s important you know exactly what you are expecting from your cruise. Are you after a floating relaxation tour with the occasional port stop or an activity packed experience across the continents? Do you have three days or three months? There is a cruise holiday just right for you, but you need to decide what interests you.

Consider your cabin choices

Definitely consider spending a few more dollars for a better cabin: having an outside cabin with a window, or better yet a balcony, helps makes the cruise experience much more enjoyable and helps differentiate cruising from a resort vacation.

Cover yourself

All ships have good medical facilities on-board but they are not free. So purchase the best suitable insurance to cover hospital treatment, cancellation, medical evacuation and any activities you wish to participate in while you are away. Your travel consultant can recommend the best policy based on your cruise itinerary.

Consider staying longer

Think about extending your cruise with pre and post cruise accommodation or touring options. Many cruise lines will offer land packages to compliment your cruise or you can book a separate package with your travel consultant to ensure you get the most out of your holiday.

Travelling with the family?

Most large ships have great kids Clubs and activity programs all year round, but double check first. Obtain a program guide and let the kids rate the fun before your hop on board.

Celebrate good times

If you’re celebrating a special occasion during your cruise, let your consultant know in advance.  Most cruise lines will treat you to a complimentary cake and chorus of “Happy whatever”, and you can even arrange for a special private party.

Some reasons why cruising may be the best holiday option for you

Value

Nothing beats a cruise for incredible vacation savings. You visit multiple destinations and so much is included, from dining and entertainment to sports, fitness and a range of accommodation options. With so much to save, you may be tempted to make every vacation a cruise.

Variety

There are thousands of itineraries to hundreds of ports available across all 7 continents, so you can choose exactly the holiday you desire. There are also endless activities for every taste, onboard and ashore.

Adventure

You define what adventure is to you! Ice climbing in Alaska, surfing in Hawaii, exploring unique wildlife in the Galapagos, shopping till your drop in Thailand, or finding the very best South Pacific beach- you names it, you’ll find it.

Togetherness

There’s no better way to travel in large groups of friends and family than a cruise. You can dine at the same restaurants onboard; enjoy a Broadway-style show, play sport and so much more. Best of all, there really is something for everyone, be it adults, kids or couples.

Agencies – When choosing a cruise, there are a lot of considerations to keep in mind. What length of cruise you want, what activities cruise you want, what you should choose Cruise Line, which should ship go, what type of cruise atmosphere is better for you, what your preferences are dining cruise? All these questions will be entered in your cruise selection. One of the best cruise planning tips is to use a cruise travel agent to help you. – Almost all of the cruises I had been to sail very calm am. I am the type of person who can not read in the car without getting sick, so that on my first trip I was a little nervous because of sickness. To my great surprise I was not done. In fact, I could hardly say, I was on a ship at all. Of course the size of the ship a difference, but all my cruises to medium sized ships. All that when you said, concerned about motion sickness, here is a gem of a cruise tip – keep that a cabin in the middle of the ship. This is the ship’s center of gravity and is less effected by any kind of movement.

– This is one of my favorite cruise packing tips. Cruise cabins usually have a standard wall outlet. Most of us are traveling with more than two things that have plugged my favorite is a power squid. This is useful for the larger bulky plugs, equipped with everything recharged like a cell phone, camera, etc. ..

required – another great cruise planning tip. Getting to and from the port can be a hassle. Very often the Cruise Line, a shuttle service from the airport offer / hotel to the port and then from the port to the airport at the end. At the beginning and the end of the cruise more relaxing and trouble, let someone else worry about the logistics. It may be a little more expensive, but you are on holiday after all!

– Cruise holidays offer a variety of field trips that fill quickly. Book this morning. Do not worry about the weather. The excursions are once in a lifetime experience, you will regret it if you miss them.

– It may take up to 12-13 weeks to get a passport, be sure to register early! You can speed up service, but it costs more. For most, get the post office is the best place for the application and assistance. Once you started, it does not really take that long.

Pack the items you need / want immediately, swimsuit, drugs, a change of clothes, etc. .., so enjoy your cruise can begin immediately. During the cruise is an ideal backpack for trips, it can take another layer of clothes, camera, and mineral water. The last night on the ship you’ll put all your luggage outside your room. The backpack is for packing up all the remaining items such as pajamas, great beauty and shaving products, medicines, etc. ..

Cruise Planning Ideas for Planning Your Dream Cruise In Good Time

Cruise Planning Ideas for Planning Your Dream Cruise In Good Time

Getting this right means that you sit back and enjoy, secure in the knowledge that everything is in place for a perfect time.

Here are a few important things to note: –

1) pack for your cruise Wisely

Cruises usually go where it’s hot is! The cruise lines are very savvy people know, and if you are a bit of a masochist, you like heat by the ocean, as you had Cruise.

That is, there are often cruising in the northern hemisphere, that travel to cooler places like Alaska or the Baltic States, where the heat is not a problem (on the contrary!), although reflective Sunlight may be.

goes so far as other cruise planning must consider what you need for a lengthy spell away from the basics. There are no supermarkets on an ocean liner (although there are shops for most things you need, it is usually the only thing you forget that you can not get hold of!).

Apart from the weather, clothing needs additional consideration, especially when it comes to food. Depending on the cruise, you may need a stack of different exotic clothes show. If a man is often the one tux can be, so do not feel left alone. Your partner will have spent only a little more, that’s all!

2) Cruising Fun – Watch the sun

While the weather is in our heads, it is important to remember that the sun is more intense, at sea and the cool breezes can be deceiving to temperature, so as part of planning your trip, take high factor sun protection.

This is much more critical when you are holiday with young children. They will suffer the feeling of heat and the conditions of the sun much more than adults (although they must ensure to also).

By sure to take appropriate clothing and sunscreen, make sure you have a happy holiday, and all get to tell the story.

The sun will also mean that your system is vulnerable to those unfortunate stomach diseases who travel frequently, so that a sufficient supply of liquid may fight may be required. Of course, you can find it on the ship, but you may need to perhaps once even special fluid replacement salts.

best use of your time is important to you, especially if you have to do a lot of things. To make sure that you plan to pay off the cruise and will make your life easier, how to organize your dream cruise, is of crucial importance. This will ensure that you are the best vacation you will remember for a long time.

Cruise Planning – 3 Way to Reduce the Stress

Cruise planning is incredibly stressful for most people. They worry about every aspect of the trip, what to pack, what to do, what documents to take, what will the weather be like, and on and on. There are whole websites dedicated to answering these and many more questions.
Don’t let the stress of planning a cruise get you down.
I remember the first time I went on a cruise. I had all the same worries and fears as every other first timer. As a matter of fact just prior to the cruise I was wondering why I ever booked the darn thing. I was so stressed out by the planning and preparation I almost cancelled the trip. Well after many more cruises I’m hear to tell you it doesn’t have to be that way. With a little information and a little research on the internet you can turn a stressful situation into a enjoyable one. You can enjoy the time prior to your departure and use as an extension of the actual vacation.
Here are just 3 ways one can reduce the stress of planning a cruise.
1 Research you ports of call. I love to go on the internet and read about the ports of call I’ll be visiting. Learn about port, the shopping and find things to do that aren’t the normal tourist traps. This will help you be prepared when you get there and is a great family activity to extend the vacation excitement.
2 Don’t Over pack – create a packing list. Over packing is the most common mistake especially if you’re a first timer. Just sit down and make a list of the clothes and personal items you need. Then put it aside for a couple of days and take it out again and cross off half of everything you put down. You really don’t need 3 swim suits and 2 hair dryers.
3 Leave for your cruise a day early. I know this will add cost to the trip but the cost is worth every dime. There is nothing worst then traveling the day your ship is to leave and there is bad weather that is slowing plane traffic. I know I’ve been there. You worry for days before the trip and if you’re delayed the day you travel it will not make for a fun start of your vacation.
If you follow these 3 simple suggestions your cruise planning will be much less stressful and you will look forward to going on your hard earned cruise instead of dreading going.

Which is the Right Cruise for You?

Where would I want to go? Which cruise line do I choose? How much is this going to cost me? Deciding what cruise is right for you can seem a bit mystifying at first, but if you sit down and brainstorm on what you want, you can find a cruise line that closely fits your requirements.

You have just seen what seems to be the one thousandth picture of your neighbor’s recent cruise. With your eyes and ears on autopilot, you start to daydream about taking a cruise too. If anything, it would give you the opportunity to take your own thousand pictures to parade in front of your neighbor!

For instance, where you live can be a deciding factor on which cruise you could take. If you live close to the ocean, chances are there is a shipping port of some sort nearby. You could drive to the port within a reasonable amount of time since most cruise lines have to temporarily dock somewhere to refuel and replenish supplies. However, if that is not an option, you would have to factor in the cost of flying in to an airport that is closest to a shipping port. Depending on your budget and location, this could be cost prohibitive for some people.

What destination you have in mind is also helpful in your decision to pick a cruise. You can cruise in practically any ocean in the world. Have a hankering to see Mexico? There are many Mexican cruises departing from Texas ports like Galveston. Perhaps you would like to take a cruise in cooler weather and head to Alaska to see its many glaciers and wildlife.

Where you go on your cruise can also dictate when you go. For instance, if you want to take that Alaskan cruise, plan to depart anywhere from May through September. Cruising those icy waters in the winter time is dangerous. Also keep in mind that seasons are reversed in some areas of the world. Winter time in the United States is the perfect time for a cruise to a South American destination like Rio de Janeiro because it is summer there.

The number of vacation days you can take off from work is also a factor in choosing a cruise. The typical length of a cruise is anywhere from four days to twelve days. If you are close to a shipping port, then short two days cruises might be a great option for you.

Money matters in your cruise decision as well. Research what the cruise is offering. Some are all inclusive which means that your cabin, meals and entertainment are taken care of in your price. Any services offered on board like the spa, manicures, hair stylists and massages are extra. Liquor and extra food and drinks can be additional. Your cabin also determines the price of your cruise. Do you want the inexpensive cabins on the inside of the ship? Or do you want your own view with a large window, porthole or even your own balcony?

Once you have an idea of where you want to go, what you can spend and how long you can be away, then you are ready to shop around. If you are a member of an association like AAA, they can offer you great deals for cruise packages to a variety of destinations. Use the internet as a research tool and visit websites for various cruise lines for more information. Or if you prefer, talk with your neighbor about her experience and how she booked her cruise. Of course, you will be treated to another round of pictures from her vacation!
